A VOICE OF EXPERIENCE
Protecting Poway Values
What makes Poway special isn't just where we live—it's how we live. Our shared values shape everything from how we support our neighbors to how we plan for the future.
“For nearly three decades, I've seen this community thrive because residents care deeply about preserving what makes Poway unique: safe neighborhoods, well-maintained infrastructure, fiscal responsibility, and thoughtful growth that respects our character. Those Poway values are the foundation of my representation on City Council.
“Your priorities are mine. My record as a previous councilmember and civic volunteer shows how I have–and will continue to-protect those priorities.”
-
“Our firefighters and sheriff's deputies are the backbone of Poway’s remarkable safety. I will continue to support these resources and other smart policies and advocate for programs to ensure Poway remains the safest city in the county.”
My council record:
Voted for Midland Road safety improvements
Supported the ordinance banning distribution of hate litter
Advocated for continued investment in emergency services
Will advocate for:
Safe pedestrian crossing at St. Andrews to Valle Verde Park
Safer speed control and enforcement on neighborhood streets
-
“Well-maintained roads and reliable water infrastructure aren't luxuries. They're necessities I have-and will–prioritize on residents’ behalf.”
My council record:
Supported the city’s commitment to clean, reliable water with its historic water infrastructure improvement program
Supported the city’s commitment to its rigorous street maintenance program
Advocated for new traffic signal technology on Poway Road and Espola Road to reduce traffic congestion
My community involvement:
Participated in the San Diego County Water Authority’s Citizen Water Academy to better understand water infrastructure and what drives water rates
Organized a public workshop to help educate Poway residents on the history of San Diego County’s water delivery system
-
“Just as Poway families balance their budgets, so should city government. I believe in living within our means while maintaining healthy reserves for unexpected challenges.”
My council record:
Opposed the .5% County sales tax increase
Approved city budgets with healthy financial reserves
Prioritized taxpayer dollars for essential services, such as water infrastructure and road maintenance
-
“Growth must respect Poway's character and serve our residents' needs, while protecting our treasured open space. I've demonstrated a willingness to say ‘no’ to projects that don't fit and ‘yes’ to development that benefits our community. I will continue to maintain that independent-minded approach to growth.”
The future of Poway Road:
Oppose changes that could trigger property owners to increase density, height, traffic through CA Density Bonus Law
Prioritize implementation of state-of-the-art systems to Improve traffic flow
Engage the community with public workshops to hear your ideas and keep you updated
I also propose the city host a community workshop to provide an update on active and completed development on Poway Road, and seek resident input on city-led enhancements identified in the Poway Road Specific Plan, such as:
New gateway features and wayfinding
Public art and murals, including utility box art
Enhanced landscaping, sidewalks, and crosswalk treatments
Modern street lighting
Recreation facility at The Farm:
Proposal must meet the requirements of The Farm Specific Plan.
A noise study and effective mitigation efforts must be required with any proposal
Commercial space at The Farm:
I will advocate for a resident advisory group so you can have direct input on future plans in the development.
Improve building permit process:
As council member, I will advocate for improved applicant experience to streamline the permitting process
My council record:
Voted against the Life Time Fitness Center proposal that didn't align with residents’ priorities
Supported the Monte Vista Affordable Housing Project to address real housing needs
Made sure potential developers followed the Poway Road plan.

My community involvement:
Led a successful opposition by the GVCA to the Maderas Hotel ballot measure
-
“Our parks, recreation centers, and gathering places are where community happens. I've supported investments in the facilities that make Poway a remarkable place for residents to enjoy life to its fullest.”
My council record:
Approved improvements to the Poway Center for the Performing Arts
Supported enhancements to the Poway Swim Center and community parks
Voted for improved concessions experience at Lake Poway
DID YOU KNOW?
I am the only candidate
eligible to participate in decisions about a rec facility project at The Farm.
Because I live outside The Farm’s conflict-of-interest zone established by state law, I will be able to fully participate in City Council decisions about a rec facility project. My opponent cannot.*
Decisions affecting the neighborhood may include:
Recreation Facilities • Operating Hours
Noise • Lighting • Traffic
*Under California law, an elected official who lives within 500 feet of a project under consideration is presumed to have a financial conflict of interest and would likely be unable to participate in deliberations or vote on matters regarding the project. Gov. Code § 87100; FPPC Reg. 18702.2(a)(7).
