A PROVEN VOICE OF
Experience. Independence. Leadership.
“I’m running for the Poway City Council vacancy because District 2 needs a strong voice of experience who can step in immediately and best represent your priorities.
“I’ve built trust with residents and strong working relationships with city staff and community leaders–and my record shows I make principled, independent-minded decisions that prioritize Poway values.
“Please join me in bringing proven experience and capable, caring leadership to Poway City Council.”
~Anita Edmondson
Poway is a special community-and residents deserve serious, capable representation.

Anita Edmondson has served on the City Council before—and done so with distinction. She understands the job, the issues, and the responsibility. She also stepped up when it mattered most—voting against the Life Time Fitness Center proposal as a council member and helping lead a successful recall of the previous council member to restore integrity and accountability to the District 2 seat.

Serving the Community
As a previous Poway City Councilmember, Anita Edmondson is able to begin serving on council with competence from Day One. She has represented residents on a range of issues, including land use and development, water infrastructure, bond financing, traffic safety, State mandates, and more.
***
“When I was appointed to the District 2 council seat after Barry Leonard’s departure, I made a commitment to serve with integrity and independent judgment. And I honored my pledge not to run for the seat in 2024.
“During my time on council, I approached every issue the same way: ask questions, understand the facts, and listen to community input. I will uphold that same commitment when elected.”
EXPERIENCE.
Anita is on record voting in the best interests of residents. She was the lone Council NO vote on the proposed Life Time Fitness Center, demonstrating that she prioritizes reason and residents’ voices with strong independence. Over her 12-year tenure on the GVCA board, Anita served as a watch dog and advocate for north Poway residents, including a successful opposition to the Maderas Hotel ballot measure.

“When I am elected, I will continue to be an accessible, independent-minded representative advocating for Poway values on behalf of residents in District 2, and city-wide.”
INDEPENDENCE.
DID YOU KNOW?
I am the only candidate eligible to vote on issues that impact The Farm.
Because I live outside The Farm’s conflict-of-interest zone established by state law, I will be able to fully participate in City Council decisions about the project. My opponent cannot.*
Decisions affecting your neighborhood may include:
Recreation Facilities • Operating Hours
Noise • Lighting • Traffic
*Under California law, an elected official who lives within 500 feet of The Farm is presumed to have a financial conflict of interest and would likely be unable to participate in deliberations or vote on matters regarding the project. Gov. Code § 87100; FPPC Reg. 18702.2(a)(7).
A long-time Powegian, Anita has proudly served with many local organizations over the years, including:
GVCA – Vice President
Poway Chamber of Commerce – Board Member, President
Poway Unified School District Foundation – Board Member
PUSD School Foundations and PTAs – Board Member
Marketing-Communications Business Owner
Art Corps - Director, Instructor (staff)
